Cheryl Miller Carpenter 1 year agoI grew up on Baxter Lane in Moyock NC. I lived in Moyock all my life and trust me when I say I lived down a Dirt Road, hint Baxter (LANE) was an old dirt road that local people would drive down to dump their garbage before puplic dump sites. The school bus would only drive to the railroad tracks when rain came. We had to walk out and our boots would get stuck in the clay so we had to allow hours to be on time. Only people living back there were Miss Addy older black lady who raised chickens and sold eggs. Her realitive Walter Sawyer who we purchased property from. Our neighbors The Starboard's who had 4 boys and Mr. Starboard worked at shipyard with my Dad. This single woman named Katherine who had a big barn at the very end and she had Horses and lots of company always hanging around with children so I use to hang up there and help with the horses so I could ride them. Until one day she got hit by the rain and No one ever moved in to claim her property and horses just disapeared one day. We then played in the old barn and smoked cigarettes with other children who soon moved in a few years later. My father had no drivers license and he road to work with the neighbor always depended on others to drive him around until he would get drunk and then He Would Take The Family Car and disapear for awhile. He drove his lawn mower most of the time back to creek to fish or hunt and I just know he is in Heaven Singing Oh Thank Heaven For Seven Eleven. He would have that lawn mower up there dailu, gettog his lottery tickets beer ice and gas for his ride. God I just know he had something to do with This New 7-11 at the end of Bacter Lane, in Moyock NC. Daddy I will hang out there just to feel your presents because I just Know You Are Here. I miss you Daddy Rabbit!!!!!
